Introduction to MATTC

The Major Appliance Technician Training and Certification Program

From the technicians who perform the repairs to the service managers who direct operations, from the dispatchers who schedule the service calls to the owners who manage the business, everyone would likely be in agreement on the subject of raising the image and standards of the major appliance service industry.

There are four points most people are in agreement with:

1. That the issue of needing to raise the image and standards of the major appliance industry has been around for a long time.

2. That there has been a lot of talk about it.

3. That some progress has been made, mostly due to the efforts of professional associations dedicated to the major appliance service industry.

4. That much more is needed.

MATTC is all about point number four. The MATTC program is designed to provide both a training component and a certification that attests to the professionalism and competency of the technician who completes it. The program is provided through Marcone Servicers Association (MSA), in partnership with Technical Training Associates, as part of the overall effort of MSA to raise the image and standards of the major appliance industry.

MATTC Training The MATTC program consists of a five module correspondence training program in major appliance technology supported by fourteen video training programs. Technicians who complete the training and pass the evaluations related to the programs will be awarded a MATTC certification. The examinations, evaluations, and documentation of certification are accomplished under the auspices of Technical Training Associates.
